Android Gingerbread Official

It is official: Android 3.0 or "gingerbread" is going to be released by Google sometime soon. So, how to we know this? Google has put up their Gingerbread man right next to the froyo statue put up when 2.2 was going to be released. One thing that we do not know yet though: is gingerbread going to be 3.0, or is it going to be Android 2.3? Some recent rumors suggest that gingerbread is going to be Android 2.3, not 3.0. If this is true, there is probably going to be more minor adjustments than the ones speculated, like all the applications having fancy transitions like the ones currently in the 2.1+ gallery app. All we know now is that gingerbread is going to be released soon (presumably next week) and we just have to wait and see what it is going to provide for us.
