Clearwire Unveils 4G Hockey Equip....I Mean Pay As You Go Service

Clearwire unveiled its 4G wireless service which they call "Rover." Rover is a pay-as-you-go 4G service that lets users have 4G speeds without being locked into a contract. It costs $5 per day, $20 dollars per week, and $50 dollars if you want a month of service. Okay, onto the hockey joke. In order to have the 4G service, you need to purchase something that Clearwire calls a "puck" which connects up to eight users for $150, or a "stick" which connects only one user for $99 bucks. The prices above for the "puck" and the "stick" are for the device itself. The consumer has to purchase that device and also a plan of 4G for daily, weekly, or monthly. =]

Fennec For Android Hits Alpha

Mozilla Firefox Mobile (a.k.a. Fennec) has entered Alpha for Android and the Nokia N900, and, you can definetly tell that it is Alpha. It is unresponsive at best, although the UI is quite nice, as you swipe to the left for windows with previews of each windows, and scroll to the right for more options, such as bookmarking. If Mozilla could make Fennec more responsive, smooth and polished, it could be pushed into beta.

Dell Aero, Why You Shouldn't Buy It

The Dell Aero was recently released, and, it just downright stinks. It runs Android 1.5, has a 624 Mhz processor, has a low-res screen, and a 2, yes 2, megapixel camera. Why you shouldn't buy it: 1. It stinks 2. you could get a perfectly good: mid-range phone in the LG Ally, which runs Android 2.1, a 3.2 megapixel camera, has a hi-res screen, and a real keyboard. Dell's catchline: The world's lightest Android phone. Are you trying to scare customers away?

The thing I wonder about is that if this tablet is going to get upgraded to froyo, how will they roll it out? Will there be a wifi only version. All of these questions will probably be answered on September 2nd, where Samsung is holding a press conference in Berlin, Germany. The link below is to the Engadget report that includer the teaser video. And hey, doesn't that hand in the picture to the left look really big? Tell me in the comments!

I Apologize For the Odd Look Of the Site...Sometimes

If you have noticed, at times my site seems to look a little funny. Things are messed up in the sidebar, the posts look different, and so on. This is because I am always experimenting with the look of my blog and am trying to make things better and more proffesional. TBWJ is always under construction, so please, if you notice anything odd, refresh the page. That should fix the problem. Thanks!

Paypal Might Be Added To Payment Method To Android Market

Paypal might be in talks with Google to finally add a new payment method to the Android Market besides a credit card. There have been complaints about Android phone users having to use their credit card to pay for their apps and not being able to use another way such as add to cellphone bill or use a paypal account.

Chrome 6 Now Into Beta, Even FASTER than Before

Google Chrome can't stop getting faster, and faster, and faster. Chrome 6 is now into beta, and Google claims it renders Javascript 15% faster than the previous version. Other than that, there are just a few minor UI tweaks to Chrome 6. The back, forward, home, and reload buttons are now built into the bar instead of looking like being their own buttons. Also, the bookmark button is now moved to the right side of the URL box.

Sony PSP Android Phone?

Engadget reports that Sony is working on a device that is a cross between a PSP and an Android phone. What? Yeah. This device is rumored to have a hi-res 3.7-inch or larger screen, a slider with game controls instead of a physical QWERTY, have a 1Ghz Snapdragon CPU (bummer), and run Android 3.0. There might be a special section of the Android gaming for this device, also. What suprises me is that the Snapdragon is not very good at handling 3D graphics, so maybe there is more to this story. This is a rumor after all. I wouldn't be shocked if this phone had a different processor or a separate GPU to make gaming a much better experience.

Motorola Droid Manual Update Available, Might Be Halted

the Motorola Droid android 2.2 update is rolling out extremely slowly, ugghhh. Most people have opted for the manual update, but might not run as smoothly as if waiting for the OTA. The update might be halted as a leaked build was just discovered and might fix some bugs or a security problem. Dang Verizon, my Droid is still not updated! I am not going to do the manual update, because when I did it for 2.1, it was CHOOOPPPPY! The home screen scrolling was terrible, but when I downloaded launcher pro plus, it was smooth as butter. Please share, follow, tweet, and buzz! Check out www.droid-life.com for Droid news, and visit www.tehcwaffle.net for Tech news!
